I completed 8 laps with speeds in excess of 100 miles an hour. It was exciting, exhilarating, and down right scary! When
you go into the turns the track is elevated and it feels like you’re driving on the side of a wall. When you come out of
the turn in speeds over 100 miles an hour, you’re supposed to be 8 feet from the brick wall. I would like to tell you that
I felt like Richard Petty, but I didn’t, I felt like Raleigh Washington in excess of 60 years old driving in excess of 100 miles
an hour, trying to remember everything they told me – stay between the white dots, slow down when you see one cone, speed up
when you see two cones, stay in the tracks of the pace car, if you see the blue flag you’re not in the tracks, if you see the
yellow flag you’re going too slow, if you see the red flag your too close to the pace car, if you feel gravity pulling you
toward the infield – don’t let it! You have to remember all of these things while you’re driving over 100 miles an hour!! I
realize that the NASCAR drivers do all of these things instinctively, but I was going crazy!! When I finished the 8th lap, and
saw the checkered flag, I screamed out – THANK YOU JESUS!! Was it fun --- it was very, very, very hard work, but it
was also very, very rewarding because every dollar raised will go to needy and often displaced Jewish believers in Israel – to
God be the glory!!
